Characters and progress live in the game. Sign in with the same game account and check the realm you selected. The website database is reference material, not your inventory.

One game account is shared across the website, desktop launcher, and game client. Website sessions use an httpOnly cookie and never expose your bearer token to page scripts. If you enable two-factor authentication in the game, both authenticator codes and backup recovery codes work here.
Verify your client download
The download page checks each published feed and binary before redirecting, and lists the published SHA-512 or SHA-256 digest so you can verify the file locally before running it.
