Vows Cut Loose

Quest · Seviye 20

You read terms well enough for the downs, $N. Now read a worse contract. In Crownscar Pass a Gravecaller lieutenant called Malrec trades crowns for vows: his aspirants give up the promises that made them who they are, and he hammers what is left into obedience. A vow cut out of a person does not die. It goes on binding someone. Surgeon Pell Ash keeps the living vows at Scarwatch. Go and learn what that bargain costs the ones who took it.

Completion

The Hall of Orders sends me a warlock? Then someone up there finally understands what Malrec is doing. Look at these, $N. Strips of living vow, cut from people who said yes to him. They still twitch when he speaks. A promise you sell is still a promise. It simply belongs to someone else now.
