So my letter found you, $N. Good. I am Corwin Ashveil, Magister of the Spire, and I will not waste your time with ceremony. Nine days ago my apprentice, Tamsin Quell, walked out of the Spire's archive with the Riven Codex under her arm: the first grimoire, the book the first magisters wrote fire and frost and the hours into. She is tearing out its pages as she runs, and a loose page never lies quiet. Chronicler Aven Dorr at Low Ferry, west across the lowlands, writes that the Tollwater has begun to glow. Go to him and see what she dropped.
