Your mentor's letter calls this your Proving, a false hymn against a true one. Silence him. Then go home to Mother Ilsabet at the Hall of Orders and tell her the vanguard sleeps.

Completion
Threnos is silent, and the vanguard sleeps. You did not raise a single one of them, $N, though the power was in your hands. That restraint is the Proving. Now I can trust you with the other half: the Rekindling Hymn. A necromancer drags the dead up to serve; a priest offers a fallen friend the way back, and lets them choose to take it. Sing it only when the fight is over, and only for those who were not done.
