If he was a keeper of your Lantern once, then it falls to a keeper to put his torch out. Take whoever will stand with you; his fire does not tire. Then carry the last of his flame home to your Mother Ilsabet.

The Torchbearer is at rest, and his torch is cold. He forgot that a lantern is carried so that others can find their way to it, $N, never so that it can be carried at them. You did not forget. Take the Heart of the Lantern, the glass at the centre of the flame I have kept for forty years. The Lantern is yours to keep now. When a novice comes to you afraid of the dark in themselves, tell them what I told you: the same flame casts both, and it is still a flame.
