Quest · Level 10

So the letter found you, $N, and you read it before you came. Good. That is the first lesson, and most never learn it. I am Vesper Nightbound, and I bind things: demons, debts, the occasional promise that tries to slip its knot. Every binding has a price, and someone always pays it. East of here, on Barrowmere Downs, pilgrims are shaving the names off the dead, and they cut each one away with a mark I have reason to think was copied from a page of mine. Mara Venn keeps the undelivered names at Courier Rest. Go to her, and find out who is paying for those names.

Completion

Vesper Nightbound's student. Then the Hall has noticed at last. Look at this seal, $N. Every name the pilgrims shave from a grave comes away under this mark, and the dead it belonged to rise blank and walk the Sunken Mile with nothing to answer to. I know a binding when I see one. I have never seen one whose binder paid for it.
