A Page in the Storm

Quest · Level 30

Every pact is written down, $N, and the writing is the binding. Erase the page and whatever was bound walks free, owing nothing to anyone. Copy it, and the copy binds as well. On Stormbreak Cape a troll who calls himself the Tempest-King has crowned himself with the squall, and the storm answers no one else. Word reaches me that he holds it with terms copied from a page of mine. Nara Gale keeps the Cape Chronicle at Gale's Rest. Ask her what the storm has been told to obey.

Completion

Vesper Nightbound sent you? Then the page is real. It washed up in a corsair's chart case: a contract in a hand like a knife, signed Nightbound, with the troll's mark scratched over the name. Every clause binds the storm to whoever holds the page, $N. The galecallers chant it into the sky each night, and the drowned sail by it.
