A boat came ashore on the south sand three nights ago with one man in it, in Admiralty blue with the red line torn off his sleeve. He says he deserted the survey sloop that has been driving stakes into our reef. I have let him keep his head for now, $N, because he says he knows what the stakes are for. Find him on the south plateau and hear him out. If he lies, you have my leave to drown him.
