Every Redknife carries a red-handled knife, $N. You get it the night you join and you keep it till you die. When I signed the Common Article, Lettice let me drive mine into the Wall under my name, handle out, so everyone could see I had put it down. The holdouts on the downs still carry theirs. Bring eight of them to Lettice. A knife on the Wall is a knife out of the fight, and maybe one day the hands that carried them will come and read their own names under them.
