Every druid keeps the wheel of the year, $N: summer gives way to winter, winter to spring, and the song turns with it. Far to the north and east, in the Severed Seasons, the year was cut in two, and on the Rimeward Tundra one winter has stood so long that two kingdoms each remember it as their own. Healer Sava Veyr tends the Veyran Refuge there. Go and hear what that winter has cost. I think Briallen passed that way, near the end.

A druid. The last one who came through these tents was an old woman with bark in her hair, thirty winters ago, $N. She knelt in the snow between our refuge and Asterfall's, listened a long while, and wept. Then she walked north. Fenwyn's letter says her name was Briallen. She told me this winter is not weather. It is a war that will not let itself be over.
