The Oldest Root
cq_druid_5_1The Oldest Root
Quest · Level 60
I cannot walk this road with you, $N. My knees are older than my courage. The song you heard under the Hush runs north, to Palimpsest Reach, where seven earlier worlds show through the ground like paint through paint. One of those old drafts has woken and means to cover every world that grew after it: one season, held forever, swallowing the rest. Mira Sedge studies the roots there; she says they run down through all seven layers. Tell her Fenwyn Ash-Elder sends the last student of the Grove.

Completion
Fenwyn's student, at last. Sit, $N. Thirty winters ago an old woman came to Layerwatch with bark in her hair. She said the old draft would wake one day, and that when it did, the world would need a root it could not paint over. Then she went down into the Underpaint Fen and grew into the oldest root in the Reach, the one that runs through all seven worlds. Briallen Thornwood still sings down there, if you know how to listen.
