The Mayor Who Bought Us
cq_rogue_2_3The Mayor Who Bought Us
Group quest · Level 20
The faces come from the Mayor Who Was Everyone, in the Namesmith House. It has been every citizen of Lastlight on one erased day or another, $N, and now it buys names it was never given and hands them out to its cutpurses. Silk calls that the mark who is not what it seems; I call it a thief with a title. It will not die quietly, so take two friends. Bring whatever papers it carries to Silk at the Hall of Orders. I want no part of her Ledger.

Completion
Bills of sale for our dead, and every one signed with a single stroke of the pen. I know that stroke, $N. I would rather I did not. When the mark runs, and the clever ones always run, you do not chase. This is the Parting Knife: you finish the work from where you stand, and the mark carries a limp for the rest of its very short walk.
