The Roster

Quest · Level 60
I owe you the truth now, $N, so here it is. A century ago I went north to the Bindery and signed a pact with the one who keeps it. He taught me to bind anything, and the price was my name on his roster, to be sewn in when the last signature is complete. The names on the downs, the vows in the pass, the page in the storm, the ink on the shoals: they were all clauses of his work, coming due. Go to Quirefall. Reader Ansell went into that book and came out again. Ask what is written on the last page.

Completion
I came out knowing the third century and not my own mother's name, so forgive me if I stare. Yes, I have seen the roster. It was put in me with everything else. Every soul in Quirefall, in order, and near the end, in a hand older than this town, a name I never understood until you said it: Nightbound.
