The Last Reflection

Quest · Level 60
Sit by the water a while, $N, and do not lean in too far. This leaf was a roster once, every name the Book meant to keep, and the Binders cut it not for what it held but for who it left off the list. When it ran aground here, the missing names did not vanish; they sank into the ground and pooled up as these sinks, one reflection for every name that never made the final page. The drowned stairs were built afterward, so the living could climb down and look for someone who was never truly there to find. The Glossator came looking for one name in particular. I do not know whose. I do not think even the Glossator knew by the time they left, only that the sink at the bottom of the stairs never gave it back, and the note they left behind is not an answer. It is only the question they came here already asking.

Completion
You read their question, and I still do not have an answer for it either, after all these years of trying. Whoever the Glossator was looking for, this sink never gave them up, and the trail moves on regardless: south across open water to Geoglyph Downs, where they say the ground itself was carved into figures too large to read from standing height. No ferry comes this far, $N; only your own boat will carry you there, so set your course south and go. If the downs remember a name the water here forgot, come back and tell an old keeper who it was.
