The Glossator's Line
es_feintrule_terraces_sagaThe Glossator's Line
Quest · Level 13
Feintrule Terraces was never meant to be read at all, $N. It was a page of feint rule, the pale guide lines a scribe draws and then writes over, meant to vanish under the real ink. The Binders never even counted it a leaf of the Book, just a tool for making one, and when the real page was finished they threw the ruled sheet away. It drifted here and grew fourteen terraces deep, holding the shape of lines that were never meant to be seen. Someone has been walking them anyway. Climb to the High Terrace and see what they left on the topmost stake.

Completion
So the lines were worth reading after all. Whoever left that mark up there is thinking the same thought I keep to myself at harvest: that a guide is not nothing just because it is meant to disappear. My own notes say the trail runs north from here, $N, to Headband Holm, a ridge that stands like the raised band on a book's spine. Any mainland ferry master will carry you, and mind the wind on the crest road.
