The Almanac That Sang

Quest · Level 10
They cut a great many almanac pages before the Book was Bound, $N; the Binders wanted the turning of the seasons said exactly right, and exactly right took more drafts than anyone cared to count. This whole tableland is one of the rejected ones: a first attempt at writing down the autumn that some Binder decided read too much like a song and not enough like a fact. Whatever they meant by that, the draft grew real trees the moment it grounded here, and the orchard still turns its leaves every year the way the page it was cut from once turned. A wanderer came through some seasons back to look at it, small neat handwriting, called themselves the Glossator, and carved a note into the door of the old cider press down at the Cider Steps. I have read it a hundred times pressing apples and never once made sense of the second half. Go and read it again for me.

Completion
So it is a proper margin-note after all, not just woodworm. It says nothing my almanac can use, $N, but I know now the Glossator sat right there at the press door, and that they went on from here to Feintrule Terraces, further south along this same shelf of near folios. Take the ferry there and keep reading what they left. I will keep arguing with the bees about the calendar.
