Notes in a Stranger Hand: The Overgrown Manicule

Manicule Mangroves was never a passage in the Book, $N. It was a manicule, one of the small pointing hands scribes drew in the margin to say look here, this matters. But this one grew teeth: whoever drew it kept adding fingers, arguing louder and louder that a passage everyone else had stopped reading still mattered, until the manicule was bigger than the page it pointed at. The Binders cut it loose rather than let one note overrun a whole leaf, and it drifted east, still splayed open, still pointing at nothing now but itself. The Glossator came through not long ago and left a note at the Far Digit, same as everywhere else. But this time the note has been written on twice, $N. Someone else found it first, and answered back in a hand I do not recognize.
