The Margin Calls: A Practice Coastline
es_quire_reach_sagaThe Margin Calls: A Practice Coastline
Quest · Level 24
Quire Reach was never meant to be a coastline, $N. It was a first draft, a Binder's practice sketch of an ordinary shore, worked out in folded stone before the real coast was ever pressed into the continent's own page. When the sketch did not match the final line, the Binders cut it loose rather than bind two shores where the Book needed one, and it drifted east on the Ink Tide until it ran aground here, still folded the way a discarded quire folds. A wanderer they call the Glossator passed through some years back, gathering the stories of every cut leaf, and left their note where the fold runs deepest, up past Gathered Leaves. Go and read what they wrote.

So you found it. The Glossator writes the way they walk, lightly, as if the whole reach were a margin worth a joke rather than a grave. They were headed south from here, toward Lampblack Isle, chasing the next leaf the Binders cut. Have Cobb ring the bell for you: the ferry takes you back to the mainland docks, and the ferry masters there sail on to Lampblack Isle. Follow the trail, and tell the Glossator, if you catch them, that Quire Reach remembers being a practice draft, and does not mind it.
