A Leaf on the Tide

Came up in my nets at first light, $N, rolled tight in a bottle that never held rum. It is a leaf torn from no book I know, and every inch of its margin is written over in a small, looping hand that signs itself the Glossator. The note says the Book the world was bound from had leaves cut out of it, and that the cut leaves drifted east on the tide and ran aground as islands. It names one of them: Kerning Skerries. Ask there for Beaconer Ysolde Marrow, it says, who keeps what the Glossator left behind. The ferry bell on these docks will call you a boat that sails there. I am too old to chase a scribble across the sea, but you are not.
