The Glossator's Mark

Quest · Level 8
Kerning Skerries was a first draft once, $N, before ever it was nine rocks. A printer's note on how far apart two letters ought to stand so a reader's eye would not stumble. The Binders cut it for being too small to matter and let the tide carry it east. It ran aground here, still holding the shape of its own even spacing, as if the sea had learned to typeset. Someone read it before I did. Go past the Close Set to the flat rock beyond and find the mark they left there.

So you found it too. 'Even gaps hold a page together better than glue,' scratched so light I nearly chalked over it myself. Whoever wrote that is still moving, $N, and the salt on the mark is old but the thought in it is not. My ledger says the trail runs south down the coast from here, to Deckle Cay: any mainland ferry master will carry you, and the net menders there keep a ledger of their own. Go read what their tide left them.
