The Margin Calls: A Small Stroke
es_serif_holm_sagaThe Margin Calls: A Small Stroke
Quest · Level 9
Every leaf in the Unbound was cut from the Book for a reason, $N, and I have puzzled over this one for twenty years. Serif Holm was drafted as the foot of a far grander page, a mountain chapter full of kings and sieges, before the Binders decided the mountain needed no foot at all and cut this quiet stroke away. So here we are: sheep, chalk and windmills, doing our best to hold up a letter that no longer exists. A wanderer passed through last season, reading every stone on the down as if the down owed them an answer, and left their mark carved into the rock at the Flourish, north of the village. Climb up and read it for me. My knees are done with hills.

So they were here after all. "A serif holds up more than it seems, and so does a small place," carved word for word, which sounds exactly like something a wanderer decides on a windy cliff. Their trail bends on to Watermark Sands next, $N, south of here along the near folios. Have Corwin ring the ferry bell for you: it carries you back to the mainland docks, and the ferry masters there sail on to Watermark Sands.
