The Chapter Torn Into Leaves
es_sibylline_mesas_sagaThe Chapter Torn Into Leaves
Quest · Level 60
Sit again, $N, and hear the rest. This leaf once held a prophecy so exact that three different kings changed their whole lives around lines that had not happened to them yet, and every one of those lives went exactly as the page said it would. The Binders could not burn a page that true without proving it right one last time, so instead they tore it into a hundred stone leaves and let the permanent wind here scatter them across every mesa top, certain no one would ever gather enough of them in the right order to read it whole again. The Glossator spent a whole twilight season gathering what the wind would give up, piece by piece, off this very terrace, and left their gleaning here when the wind finally took back more than they could carry. Go and see what patience gathered.

Completion
"A prophecy in pieces is still a prophecy. It only tells you less, not less truly." That is the whole of the gleaning, $N, pieced together as far as anyone has managed. Below it, in a hand that trails off where the fragments ran out, the Glossator names Incunabula Spires, a jungle of stone towers further south along the apocrypha, as the next leaf on their trail. No ferry sails there from here: take your own boat south, and mind what nests among towers that tall. Come back and tell an old keeper what you found there.
